A. Very short type of questions.

Ans:- The short story "Three Questions" is a parable.

the magicians?

Ans:- The scholars asked the Tsar to consult magicians because only magicians could know the right time for the action beforehand.

02. "Now rest while and let me work a bit."

Q:- Why did the speaker mean to say here? or who said this and why?

Ans:- The stranger wanted to take revenge on the Tsar, because once the Tsar had killed his brother and seized(capture) his property. The hermit said the above line to the Tsar when he felt that the Tsar was feeling tired after digging to beds.

03. Q:- "let us see who it is."

Q:- What is referred to here as 'it'?

Ans:- Here 'it' refers to a bearded man, who came out of the forest, was wounded and bleeding profusely.

04. "You have already been answered."

Q:- Why did the speaker say the above line?

Ans:- The hermit replied that the Tsar had got the answer to the question through the experience of the previous day.

05. "Now it is the most important time."

Q:- Who said this and why?

Ans:- The hermit suggested to the Tsar that the present time is the most important.

06. "That purpose alone was a man sent into this life."

Q:- What does 'that purpose' refer to?

Ans:- The purpose refers to the intention of a man to do to another man with whom, he is living because God has sent us for the purpose.

Q:- What happened then?

Ans:- The bearded man, an avowed enemy of the Tsar, come upon the bodyguard of the Tsar and the man was wounded seriously by the Tsar's bodyguard. 

08."What do you mean."

Q:- Who said this and what does the above questions suggest?

Ans:- The Tsar asked the above questions to the hermit that he did not understand now his questions had already been answered.

C. Essay type of questions.

01. Q:- Do you agree with the hermit's answer to the Tsar's three questions? if yes, state why giving example from the text to support your argument if not, state three reasons why you do not agree. 

                                                   or,

           How did the Tsar find out the answers to his three questions?

Ans:- The Tsar has three specific questions but he did not find any proper answer to his three questions. None of the scholars could satisfy the Tsar. At last, he went to a renowned wise hermit in the disguise of a common man. Seeing the thin and weak hermit working hard, the Tsar took pity on him. And helped him by digging the ground.

         Later he looked after a wounded man, who was an avowed enemy of the Tsar, primarily intended to kill him, but the Tsar made peace with him by helping him. Finally, the hermit answered the Tsar's three questions and the most are the one, who is with the Tsar and most important work is to do good to the person, who is with the Tsar.

02. Q:- Why do you that think the hermit did not give the answers to the Tsar's three questions at once?

Ans:- The hermit was a renowned wise man and knew all the answers to the Tsar's three questions. Though the Tsar repeatedly requested the hermit to answer his questions, the hermit did not give a prompt answer. The hermit knew that a man realizes something better when the knowledge comes through personal experience. He wanted the Tsar to learn from his own experiences.

         When the Tsar pitied the weakness of the hermit and helped him by digging the ground. Again when the Tsar saved the lite of an unknown enemy and made peace with him, the hermit told him that his questions had been answered and finally gave the answers with living examples.

03. Q:- What is the moral of the story "Three Questions".

Ans:- The story "Three Questions" contains a few moral lessons. The Tsar had three questions and announced a great reward of one, who could answer them. For each question, he got a different kinds of answers from the scholars. The moral of this story is that a man realizes something better when the knowledge comes through a personal experience. Such decisions arise out of a situation and a person has to do according to the demand of the situation. A man's almost duty is to be good to people around him. The story also suggests that theoretical knowledge is enough to solve the problem of life.

04. Q:- Sketch the character of the 'hermit' according to the short story, "Three Questions".

Ans:- The hermit is a renowned wise man and he meets only the common folk to solve their problems. The hermit is frail, but he does his homework himself. He is logical and so he advises the Tsar to take a rest When the Tsar had dug two beds. He is also a kind and considerate person as he helps the Tsar two bondage the wounded man. He has no ego for his wisdom. The hermit answers the Tsar with living examples. This makes him a very realistic and interesting character.

05. Q:- Sketch the character of the 'Tsar' according to the short story, "Three Questions".

Ans:- The Tsar attracts the readers for the different qualities in his character. He is inquisitive and so he is not satisfied till he gets the appropriate answers to his three questions that is why he went to the hermit. The Tsar is kind and forgiving. So he took pity on the weakness of the hermit and helped him by digging the ground. He also showed sympathy for the wounded man and looked after him. He forgives him by promising to send his servants and his physician and returned the seized property. He is a man without any kind of ego. So he dug the fields and helped the wounded man like a simple man. Thus the Tsar is an impressive Character with various positive qualities.

D. Essay type of lining questions.

01. "Forgive me."

Q:- What did the speaker ask for Tsar's forgiveness?

Ans:- The bearded man was seriously wounded by the Tsar's bodyguards. He was an avowed enemy of the Tsar because the Tsar had killed the man's brother and seized his property. The man wanted to avenge his brother's death, but as the Tsar did not return from the hermit's place, the man come out from his hidden place. While looking for the Tsar, he came across the Tsar bodyguard, who recognized the man and wounded him seriously the man would have died, as he was leading profusely. The Tsar bandage the wounds and provided him water and rest. So the man repainted and beg the Tsar for the forgiveness of the Tsar.

02. "You have been already been answered."

Q:- What kind of answers are mentioned in the above line? Describe in brief.

 Q:- Do you agree with the three answers given by the hermit? if so, give three serious to support your answer?

Ans:- The wise hermit gave three answers to the questions asked by the Tsar. The hermit's answer seemed logical and appropriate.

           Firstly the hermit answered that the most important time in the present is because we live in a present and we have to do our duty accordingly. So the Tsar spend his present time digging the beds and helping the wounded man.

           Secondly, the hermit answered that the most important person is the one with whom we are living because the Tsar showed his kindness for the hermit and so the Tsar was escaped from the attack of his enemy.

           Thirdly the hermit answered that the most important work is to do good for the fellow man because every good works bring good result as the Tsar helped the hermit by digging the ground and looking after the wounded man, and the Tsar was saved from his enemies attack and his avowed enemy becomes a faithful slave.

03. "For that purpose alone was a man sent into his life."

Q:- What is the man theme or the inner meaning of the above line?

Ans:- The hermit tells here the main mission of man's life on earth. God sent the man with a purpose. The purpose is to do good to man. The most important activity of man is to feel or do good for his fellow men his doing good to others does good to him. The man service is the best service of God. Every good work brings a good result for us.
